The GCB AGM and the AFT motion to expel the Cape Bar from the GCB.

The GCB AGM was held in Bloemfontein on 16 July 2016. The motion to expel the Cape Bar was not pursued, and the only item that was debated was whether the Cape Bar delegation was validly constituted, given that there were no AFT representatives on it. The ordinary business of the AGM was not dealt with at all. The AGM was ultimately postponed at the insistence of AFT. The AGM will now resume on 1 October 2016. It is unclear whether on that date AFT intends to pursue the motion to expel. The meeting concluded on the basis that AFT will provide its written demands to all the Bars regarding the issue of co-governance by 29 July 2016.
